Start a Career in Beauty

Uncle Sam wants to create more jobs to stimulate the economy and get America back on its feet.  What can you do to help this sluggish economy?  The Beauty Industry is a unique field because it is virtually recession proof.  Women will always have a desire to be pampered in the salon and men have become more open to spa-like services.  When people want to forget about the negative news, they look for an escape.  That is where beauty professionals can step up and make a difference in this world.  Depending on your committment to service and desire to entertain your clients, people will come to the salon or spa to “escape” – put their worries behind and drift off into pure relaxation.

I have asked many stylists in that past few weeks how business has been in light of the news.  Not surprisingly, the stylists are still booking many clients and have not seen a change in business.  Interestingly, some of them are getting busier!  In one case, I was told by a stylist that she was actually getting referrals from her other clients because when people are at risk of losing their jobs, they want to keep their appearance updated, fresh and ready for opportunities.

Working in a salon is very rewarding and has been rated as one of the highest “job satisfaction” careers by a national survey.  In just 9 months, you can attend beauty school and be licensed to start a new career – that is smart in this economy.  Remember, you get back what you put into this industry, so if you are willing to work hard, continue your education, and are good with people, then uncle sam wants you to stimulate our economy and put money in your pocket!
